In 1776, one of the greatest years in American history, our forefathers decided the best way to arrive at a mass formed idea was through representatives. At that time they did not have a way to effectively gather statistics. In modern times however, the speed of communication has obviously changed. With television programming modifying countless lives and thoughts of everyone on a worldwide basis, this multimedia presentation forms more of a thought than most people realize. Speech patterns, recognition of slag, trends, and distortions of every form countering nature can be implicated as an arrival. This information has a solid impact on our representatives of congress, senators, judges, and other persons we expect to remain pure from these influences. But in reality, not a single person can really avoid the effects. It is merely information flowing from one point to another. Because there is more information available and consumed today, we must ensure that the information gained is truly representative of mass opinion. The best way to do this is by allowing the population to speak for itself, something the current government for the past fifteen years has ignored.
The state of affairs in Washington DC, the operation thereof, is actually a living human machine. Each component, a person with heart and emotions, affects other people around them to achieve change. However, where does the person influencing the future of our world get their goals? And are their goals one of self-indulgence? One can, in reality, never hope to find the true answer to that, because it is in the nature of man to hide and cover things up. And of course which one of us can say we have never hidden things. I say let us not focus on the past, but look to the future. The future, we must create changes that allow the American population an input into the operation, workings, decisions, programs set forth, and money expenditures. Let that be repeated: We must allow the American population, rich or poor, a say, an influence of information. Doing so will create a happier population, one whose government has a stronger connection with the attitudes and desires of the population. That is very important in today's high traffic of information.
But by no means am I suggesting a replacement of democracy, I am suggesting that the current form of democracy must become reliant on technology to analyze polls using natural language texts. This analysis should use expert systems to modify the input form to refine categorization and provide input text of about X words. Doing so aligns the intent of establishment on all sides and achieves more accuracy in orginal plan of our society's structure. The original goals are adhere to the will of the people providing freedom to their desires while balancing protective means on an international level. More is to be said, on a social context within the boundaries, yet basic human rights should be preserved. Statistical language processing allows this through measurement. I believe that our government should use and make publicly available all of the data-mining results from billions of letters they may receive. Can we actually have a say so on going to War? Can we actually have a say so before killing off thousands and excommunicating ourselves from the globe? Frankly this is all very possible. Any computer scientist will let you know that a system can be created that categorizes opinions of natural language texts. It is their accuracy of categorization that remains bubbling. And the accuracy can be drastically improved by supplying selections that the user chooses from to empirically place their document within select categories.
In conclusion, the amount of information flow today compared to the reaction times of the human machine operating our governmental body is not balanced. The representatives in our government are prey to reacting upon information gained through sources that are not directly related to the American People’s desire. This is a breakdown of democracy and its original intent to be pure facilitators of the people. While this is by no means a fault of anyone working in Washington, DC, they know of the problem. Strong American citizens need to create the necessary change that gives the voice back to the people. Otherwise continuing with this high rate of media management will separate the middle and lower income classes further. While many believe that changes can occur by electing other officials, in reality how much of your thoughts actually change or influence their mind. You could try forever yet still not get a meeting with a senator. You could send emails all day long, but actually getting your voice heard and weighted within the big picture is difficult. To accomplish this, we need Statistical polling with natural language processing published in the public eye; consumed by the dead sharks at the local news paper and television station. Let your voice be heard.
